Highlands and Islands Regional MSP Donald Cameron has repeated his calls for a long-term, permanent solution to the problems blighting the A83 trunk road in Argyll. Mr Cameron spoke out after news that the road has again been closed by a landslip at The Rest and Be Thankful section of the road.
Donald Cameron said: “While we wait for further details of this incident, it is clear that despite millions of taxpayers' pounds being spent on landslip mitigation measures, the A83 continues to be blighted by disruption. This shows yet again the failure of the existing policy of 'patch and mend'.
“Residents, communities and businesses across Argyll are completely fed up.
They all depend on this road and it is utterly unacceptable that a permanent solution is nowhere in sight.
