Highlands and Islands Regional MSP Donald Cameron has received a "commitment" from the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon over a permanent solution for the A83 Rest and Be Thankful.
It comes following news over the weekend of a third major landslide this year at the troubled stretch of the A83 road.
Earlier in the month, the Transport Secretary said that he would aim to hold a local consultation in December, and submit proposals for a new route by March 2021.
Donald said: "After years of calling for a permanent solution for the A83 Rest and Be Thankful on behalf of local constituents, I welcome the First Minister's commitment to this proposal."
"For affected communities in Argyll and the West Highlands, they need a guarantee that urgent action will now be taken".
