Highlands and Islands Regional MSP Donald Cameron has welcomed the cost-of-living support payments being delivered by the UK Government.
The payments are set to benefit thousands of families and individuals across Argyll and Bute over the coming months.
They are part of a £37 billion package being delivered by the UK Government to help ease the pressure on those struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
Two payments totalling £650 will be delivered to low income households, with the first landing in accounts on July 14, and the other instalment in September.
Those eligible will receive a £150 top-up disability payment in September too.
In total 9,600 local families will receive the cost-of-living payment while a further 9,400 individuals will receive the £150 disability payment.
Donald Cameron MSP says this targeted support shows the UK Government have stepped up and has recognised how tough times are right now for families and households across Argyll and Bute.
Donald Cameron MSP said: “Many households across Argyll and Bute are struggling with the effects of the cost-of-living crisis now. They are seeing energy, food and fuel bills rise and are having to make increasingly tough decisions.
“That is why this intervention from the UK Government is very welcome. They have recognised the pressures people are facing and this will deliver support to those who need it most.
“This money will go directly into your bank account if you are eligible and hopefully ease the pressure whether you are putting fuel in the car or paying for the weekly shop.
“Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need support, and if you have any issues receiving the payment.”
